Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council

Over the course of five consecutive night shifts, our team successfully delivered a comprehensive road safety improvement scheme in collaboration with Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council.

Spanning 15 strategically selected locations, the works involved the installation of KERBEYE and REFLECT-IT R-360 Studs, targeting traffic islands, pedestrian crossings, and sections of raised kerbing. These areas were identified as high-risk due to limited nighttime visibility, frequent pedestrian interaction and evidence of repeated vehicular strikes.

Each retro-reflective unit was core-drilled and recessed into existing kerb infrastructure, creating a low-profile yet highly durable solution that blends seamlessly with the surrounding environment while delivering maximum reflectivity and directional guidance.

By enhancing the visibility of critical roadside features, this project has significantly improved spatial awareness for drivers and created a safer environment for pedestrians, particularly during low-light conditions and adverse weather. The upgrades help reduce late reaction times, improve lane discipline, and contribute to overall network resilience.
